General Dynamics IT has an opening for a Java Developer in New Orleans, LA.

 

Successful candidate must be able to pass a government background investigation. Candidates must be authorized to work in the US and a resident of the US for the previous 3 years with no longer than a 90 day absence.

 

Seeking a motivated and energetic Java Developer to join our superb team of software professionals. We want a dedicated individual who wants to learn and expand their Java and scripting expertise.

 

Performs software operating systems and software application programs design,

development, analysis, and implementation; performs software operating systems and application engineering, including full life cycle design and development; works under limited supervision; works from specifications to develop and modify operating systems and software programming applications; designs, codes, tests, debugs, and documents programs; defines limited design specifications and parameters; resolves hardware/software compatibility and interface design considerations; analyzes system architecture requirements; performs requirements acquisition and definition and data analysis; may customize purchased applications; conducts technical and subject matter research on emerging technologies to determine impacts on application execution; analyzes and documents client needs and requirements; participates in writing, modifying, and maintaining technical documentation and specifications such as user manuals, system documentation, and training materials; performs integration testing and support of various computer operating and/or network systems; troubleshoots and provides customer support for software operating systems and application issues; maintains current knowledge of relevant hardware and software applications as assigned.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Plans, develops, tests, and documents client/server applications programs.
  • Generates new code and corrects, converts, and/or modifies existing code to meet specifications.
  • Prepares detailed specifications from which code will be written.
  • Confers with end-users to analyze specified methods and procedures, identify problems, and document specific requirements.
  • Writes and updates technical documentation such as users' manuals, product specifications, and training materials.
  • Performs a variety of testing procedures on assigned products, analyzes test results, and corrects problems.
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
  • Reviews and evaluates software products, systems, and documentation to ensure adherence to company and customer quality standards as a member of an Agile Scrum Team.

Qualifications:

Requires at least 3+ years’ directly related experience in software engineering, including the design, coding, testing, and documentation of computer programs. Also requires knowledge of the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures used in software engineering and applications and systems development.

 

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures used in computer programming.
  • Development experience with Java and Java Script.
  • Tests and debugs assigned software components and units.
  • Troubleshoots problems and provides customer support for software operating systems and application issues.
  • Writes and updates technical documentation such as user manuals, system documentation, and training materials.

Desired Skills:

  • Database Application development experience
  • Experience in the development of Java Web applications and Google Web Toolkit
  • Experience using Spring, Vaadin, or ADF
  • Experience working in an Agile Software Development Environment.
  • Knowledge using automated test tools.
  • Strong interpersonal presentation and communication skills.

Working Conditions: The work is typically performed in an office environment, which requires normal safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment.

Education:
