Raytheon’s Apex program is experiencing significant growth in capabilities including the addition of new ground terminals. This is an opportunity to experience a full development lifecycle of new capabilities from system requirements definition, Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), system verification, system deployment to CONUS and OCONUS locations, and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) support. Opportunities exist in engineering leadership, O&M, system engineering and design of custom developed software, COTS hardware solutions, control of RF hardware, and infrastructure across multiple security enclaves.

Raytheon is looking for an O&M Integrated Product Team (IPT) Deputy for the Apex 2 Program at our facility in Aurora, Colorado. The Deputy will lead a multi-disciplined team of engineers in the planning and accomplishment of O&M tasks within the Apex 2 factory. The Deputy will coordinate with the IPT Lead based at a customer site in Springfield, Virginia. The Deputy will support Echelon 1 (E1) and Echelon 2 (E2) activities in four ground stations at CONUS and OCONUS locations, E1 and E2 activities at two remote customer sites, and support the IPT Lead’s management of the O&M factory team at the Apex 2 factory.

The candidate will support the IPT lead in providing direction and clarification of problem resolution to software and hardware development teams, integration and test personnel; support planning, discrepancy fixes, and system level interface integration tasks with personnel from other systems; support technical interchange meetings with other program personnel and customer representatives, and support the organization in matters pertaining to the O&M of the Apex 2 system. The Deputy will support as the O&M IPT Lead as Cost Account Manager (CAM). The Deputy will provide status on assigned Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) tasks as required; support the resolution of discrepancy by the O&M factory team; support the deployment of O&M patches and baseline updates; report to the O&M IPT Lead; coordinate with the Apex 2 customer; support coordination with the customer operations team; and support ECP efforts as required. The Must have the ability to manage time, resources, and people in order to meet assigned deadlines. This job may require occasional travel to remote customer sites.

Clearance Requirement: Must be a US Citizen and have existing SCI clearance with active SSBI

Required Skills:

  • 8+ years demonstrated engineering experience with proven track record
  • Experience leading engineering teams
  • Understanding of the SE lifecycle and change management process
  • Experience with O&M of ground systems Experience deploying ground systems to customer sites
  • Proven ability to meet timelines
  • Experience in systems engineering functions including: operations concept development, requirements management, technical risk management, interface definition and control
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with and communicate with all levels of customer, management, and individual contributors
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite of tools
  • Able to become Raytheon PLC Manager Level 6 certified within 6 months of accepting the position
  • Existing SIC clearance with active SSBI

Desired Skills:
  • Experience in Command and Telemetry, Mission Planning and/or Hardware Control
  • Experienced in EVM
  • PLC Manager Level 6 certified
  • Domain experience preferred
Education Requirements:
B.S./B.A./M.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Math, or a science.
