An opportunity exists within SVTAD’s Seapower and Sensor Systems (SSS) Department in Bath, Maine for a Senior Manager, Systems Engineering.
The SSS Department is responsible for providing system engineering, integration, test, and verification expertise to Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) U.S. and foreign government programs. SSS work scope includes software, hardware, and integrated system-level products with activities extending from initials concept, land-based integration and test, product sell-off, platform and field installation, integration and test, site surveys, support to customer field testing, and life-cycle support. Program focus areas include Naval Weapons, Maritime Combat Systems, Underwater Sensors and Vehicles, Surface and Submarine Ship Systems, Maritime Domain Awareness, and Communication Infrastructure Systems. SSS is centered at the Seapower Capability Center in Portsmouth, Rhode Island.
This position is for a Senior Manager, Engineering to serve as the DDG 1002HM&E Shipboard Activation and Test Team Lead. This position will manage the team responsible for planning and executing the shipyard industrial activation and test of Raytheon Mission System Equipment installed in the DDG 1002Destroyer. This position will be responsible for direct planning, coordination and issue resolution with the Navy Customer, Ship Crew and Bath Iron Works (BIW) senior leadership. This activity will occur predominately at a shipyard facility in Bath, ME and periodic support in San Diego, CA. The team includes personnel resident at the shipyard facility in Bath ME, as well as a significant number of personnel temporarily assigned from other Raytheon and partner locations. Occasional travel to Tewksbury MA, Portsmouth RI and San Diego CA will be required. Relocation to the DDG-1002 ship activation site in Bath, ME is required.
The work will be performed mostly on board a naval vessel under construction and during trial periods at sea. Prior experience working in this environment is desirable.
