As External Relations Director you will be responsible for increasing the organisation’s influence and impact throughout the public and political landscape.

Essential requirements:

  • You will have the skill and experience to manage a multi-stakeholder external relations strategy and plan that delivers against the organisation’s business needs
  • You will have an entrepreneurial approach and be passionate about your work
  • You will be able to demonstrate strong commercial acumen and desire to work with a close-knit strategic senior leadership team
  • You will have extensive experience in external relations – including public affairs and communications – and will have worked at a senior level across the public or private sector, either in-house or at a consultancy
  • You will be experienced in leading relationship formation with stakeholders including developing advocacy amongst key opinion formers
  • You will possess an understanding of the central/local Government decision making process and an ability to understand the rationale behind the decisions that have an impact on the organisation
  • You will demonstrate strong media relations experience, both in handling crises successfully and in proactive campaigning
  • You will have success in helping to meet business objectives through corporate communications
  • Successfully utilised social media platforms as part of your previous roles Role & responsibilities:
  • The External Relations Director will implement and refresh a strategic external relations programme, drawing on public affairs and communications disciplines
  • Ensure relationships are developed with all stakeholder groups – including politicians, civil servants, local authorities, official bodies, partners and the media – prioritising key influencers
  • Ensure the organisation is prepared to effectively handle communications issues
  • Adequately prepare the organization for responding to and managing crisis
  • Manage the Company reputation.
  • Lead the development of proactive initiatives – in collaboration with priority stakeholders – to optimally position the organisation within the market
  • Take direct responsibility for day-to-day environmental monitoring and media relations
  • The External Relations Director will advise the senior leadership team on operational requirements to improve the company’s external relations, and develop the practice of communications within the UK company
  • Oversee the delivery of the business unit marketing activities as well as internal communications
  • Ensure external relations delivery is in line with the global corporate communications strategy
  • Support other disciplines within the organisation to ensure consistency and excellence in communications i.e. support bid teams during procurement processes
  • With the communications and marketing team arrange and manage key stakeholder engagement events.
  • Manage communications and marketing associated with key business unit proposals, including liaison with partners on potential strategies. Salary & Benefits: Benefits include:
