Raytheon Missile Systems is seeking a Sr. Quality Assurance Engineer I for our Excalibur program.

This is a multi-level position that can be a salary grade G08 or G09 based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and education required of this position.

Job Description:
The Excalibur program has an opening for a program Senior Quality Engineer who will interface with the program while supporting procurement, suppliers (domestic and international), production factories, the customer and development activities. The position is based in Tucson, AZ with periodic travel. The quality engineer responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:



  • Verify product and process compliance with respect to contractual, technical, industry, AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and internal policies
  • Regularly generate and publish Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) metrics
  • Facilitate and lead cross-functional team in failure analysis, Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations, including identifying non-conformances, providing solutions, tracking issues to closure and leading Corrective Action Boards (CAB)
  • Travel up to 25% both domestically and internationally to assigned suppliers.
  • Support engineering development and maintenance activities by reviewing engineering drawings, auditing labs, assuring configuration management, and assigning appropriate requirement verifications
  • Regularly interface with US customer and Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA)
  • Work with assigned suppliers for continuous improvement
  • Communicate with program leadership and customer
  • Read, comprehend and communicate technical data
  • Review and approve Technical Data Package (TDP), Manufacturing Data Package (MDP), factory or supplier process changes and assign and/or conduct the appropriate requirements verifications
Required Skills:

  • Minimum of four(4) years of experience in related Quality, Operations, Engineering or related discipline, with experience in supporting design and/or manufacturing process
  • Manufacturing process knowledge (assembly, inspection, test)
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams in process and/or product improvements
  • Experience using Six Sigma methodology
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance

Desired Skills:



  • Experience with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 Quality Management System
  • Experience with AS9102 First Article Inspection Requirements
  • Experience in supporting design process
  • Experience working in a dynamic environment that requires prioritization and flexibility to support competing requirements
  • Six Sigma or ASQ Certification
  • Level 5 Mission Assurance Certification (Internal Candidates)
  • Data analysis; development and usage of actionable metrics
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or Business
  • Existing DoD Secret Clearance
  • Auditing process and product/process improvements in the factor or at suppliers Experience in supporting design and/or manufacturing process
  • Competency and experience in a relevant technical discipline with understanding of engineering principles and design analysis techniques
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • High computer proficiency, including skills working with Microsoft Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word Visio)
  • Competency and experience in a relevant technical discipline with understanding of engineering principles and design analysis techniques
  • Strong interpersonal skills with experience in work with leadership, suppliers and customers

Required Education (including Major):


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics
    Master’s Degree in a similar discipline preferred

Interim Clearance Required:
This position requires an interim secret security clearance before start. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. Security clearance factors include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the US, foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and drug involvement. Employment is contingent on other factors, including, but not limited to, background checks and drug screens.
