The Systems Design & Performance Directorate – Air Warfare & Land Warfare (AWS/LWS) Center is currently searching for a Systems Engineering Senior Manager to lead its Land Warfare Systems (LWS) – Multi-Discipline Systems Engineering Department.
This Department Manager will lead a department of approximately 100 engineers working predominately on programs in the Land Warfare Product Line. The department is comprised of engineers with expertise in Guidance and Navigation, Signal Processing, Systems Engineering, Modeling & Simulation, as well as Chief Engineers, Program Managers, and Lead Systems Engineers.
Major responsibilities include:
Program execution by leading tightly integrated multi-disciplined teams
Active involvement in peer reviews, design reviews, gate reviews, and test reviews
Employee performance management to include goal setting, career guidance, performance feedback, compensation, ranking and rating, and employee training and development
Partner with Talent Acquisition to grow the department in support of business needs through appropriate hiring and staffing
Support development and execution of strategic plans for related technologies, tools, and processes
Develop partnerships across Raytheon, industry, and academia to facilitate strategic capability development
Point of contact for Product Line Chief Engineer, Program Chief Engineers, and Program Managers for LWS program execution support
Lead the Department in the achievement of the AWS/LWS Center, SD&P, RMS Engineering, and Business goals
Active participation on SD&P extended leadership and engineering leadership team
Champion leadership, respect, ethics, and diversity initiatives within the organization
Required Education, Skills and Experience:
Candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or other related STEM disciplines
Minimum 14+ years of engineering experience and leadership roles with strong technical background and demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following domains:
Guidance, Navigation and controls
Modeling and Simulation
Recent demonstrated experience applying your knowledge of proposal development and bidding process
Effective management skills defined by the following:
The ability to develop and communicate a clear and achievable vision for department
Your leadership presence during group and individual interactions
The ability to form and provide guidance, coaching, and direction to Section Heads and others
Desired Education, Skills and Experience
MS or Ph.D. in aforementioned required education
Experience and expertise in LWS programs (including current security clearance)
Experience in development or capture of new business or research
Experience in initial development concept studies and systems architecture
Production experience supporting failure review boards, obsolescence issues and supplier reviews
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong judgment and decision making abilities
Able to effectively work multiple tasks and priorities
Excellent follow through and persistence
Candidate must be able to obtain access to proprietary programs (existing access preferred)
