Sr. Quality Assurance Engineer I

Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems in Goleta, CA is seeking an experienced professional to implement and manage to a Quality Assurance System and specific customer quality flow down requirements throughout the lifecycle of military airborne contracts. The selected professional will create or tailor existing quality planning to administer customer and internal quality requirements to Raytheon program teams and supply base. The selected individual will perform with minimal supervision:

  • Review and interpret all contract requirements and draft contract quality requirements to create and maintain program CQR/Quality Program Plans per contract requirement
  • Lead Quality Assurance on Program IPT and in partnership with HW Quality, create and execute the Quality Program Plan (QPP).
  • Collaborate with SW Quality for creation and execution of the Software Quality Plan (SWQP). Bid and resolve plans and resources per approved contract IMP/IMS.
  • Lead and participate in multi-functional teams in problem resolution and process improvement activities with an emphasis on six sigma, lean practices and statistical process control
  • Utilize performance data and measurement to recommend and implement preventive activity
  • Act as liaison with providing interpretation of quality requirements as defined in contracts, policies, or procedures to cross functional program representatives
  • Receive customer concerns/complaints and coordinate resolutions, assuring corrective action plans to ensure a robust response
  • Interface with DCMA on program activity ensuring compliance to contractual requirements. Drive to root cause and corrective action on Government Corrective action request.
  • Be an active participant in program GATE and EAC reviews
  • Support and ensure the effectiveness of program Risk Management Board.
  • Support and ensure the effectiveness of program Change Control Board (CCB).
  • Partner with Engineering and participate in planning and reviews associated with product testing, integration and shipment, in accordance with SAS MS instruction Acceptance Test Process. This includes Review/Approve Common PDM documents,
  • Drive root cause analysis of defects, whether with internal issues via RCAS activity and/or with suppliers in coordination with SCM. Insure that Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR) are issued to suppliers who have delivered defective hardware

Required Skills:
  • 4 years of Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related experience in military aircraft and equipment development, production, test and sustainment (Depot)
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems IS0 9001-2008 and AS9100, Configuration and Data Management, and implementation of internal and contractual quality requirements
  • Ability to collaborate with program cross-functional team members to develop practical solutions to complex problems
  • Manufacturing process knowledge (assembly, inspection, test) and ability to understand drawings, work instructions, Bill of Materials, consumable materials control, process disciplines and tool control
  • Proficient data extraction and analysis skills. Strong written/verbal presentation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.

Desired Skills:
  • Six Sigma, Lean and / or American Society for Quality (ASQ) certifications or experience with Six Sigma methodology and tools such as lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
  • Level 4 Mission Assurance Certification (Internal candidates)
  • General knowledge of industry technical standards (such as ANSI, CMMI, ASTM, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Special Test Equipment development / procurement / transition to production
  • Knowledge of First Article Inspections per AS9102
  • Understanding of Raytheon IPDS/gating or program phasing
  • Working knowledge of Raytheon RCAS or proven closed loop corrective action system, and material review and disposition of nonconforming material
