We are looking for a Systems Engineer I to join our winning team!

ELCAN is looking for a variety of expertise to join the System Engineering Team – from newengineering graduates to professional intermediate/senior system engineers with hands-onindustry experience, with the proven ability to be strong technical contributors across a widerange of technical disciplines (desired technical expertise in mechanical engineering, opticalengineering, mechatronics, and/or verification/validation test engineering).The right individuals will have the ability to see multiple perspectives of a technical issue (withthe ability to see the big picture), and enjoy working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team,bringing next-generation product solutions to market by levering the right mix of objectiveproblem solving and creativity in their day-to-day activities.

We are looking for the following Technical Requirements:

  • Requirements Definition: From capturing customer requirements to developing a clearly documented system architecture
  • Requirements Management: From managing the systems requirement throughout the product development lifecycle, to providing requirement oversight for evolving technical challenges during design process
  • Systems Analysis: Analyzing and reporting on technical data together with an assessment of risk
  • Systems Design and Development: From defining system-level block diagrams to developing concept of operations and other system related documentation in support of project deliverables
  • System Verification and Validation: From generating compliance matrices that are tracked during the verification/validation phases through to assisting in planning and defining the appropriate test methods/procedure for an effective qual. program
  • Capture and reporting of the above, using industry standard toolsets
  • New business development support: From assembling the compliance data required in formal RFP/RFQ bid submissions to championing system engineering best practices during the early planning and estimation phases

We are looking for the following Education and Key Competencies:
  • Degree in Engineering (Systems, Mechanical, Optical, Mechatronics, or Electrical), or Bachelor Degree in Applied Science, with ranging experience contributing to key attributes below
  • Track record of being a strong technical contributor across a wide range of technical topics across multiple disciplines
  • Excellent time management and technical data management skills
  • Proven understanding of design workflow and verification/validation workflow, including planning activities
  • Proficient in work breakdown structures, resource control, task assignment monitoring against resource provisions, risk assessment and cost estimates
  • Ability to delegate multifaceted technical investigation activities to appropriate members of the team, and evaluate the solutions accordingly, providing guidance as required
  • Exercises sound judgement in new situations in the absence of specific guidelines
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills
  • Meets the requirements of the Controlled Goods Registration Program.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
  • Experience in Systems Engineering and Project Engineering best-practices, across the lifecycle of a product
  • Strong Mechanical and/or Optical background
  • Knowledge of various military and industry standards related to military applications and optical mechanical systems
  • Previous experience working within a Microsoft Office environment including knowledge of Windows, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project Scheduler.
