SAIC is seeking a Ground System Engineer to provide subject matter expertise on satellite command and control, mission management, and mission processing ground software and hardware development. 

In this role, the Ground Systems Engineer will support the customer by working with developers and other organizations in identifying requirements, assessing designs, monitoring development activities, supporting testing and assisting in the integration within the program and with other parts of the enterprise. The individual will develop and manage system ICDs and support definition of, integration with, and the migration to the Enterprise initiatives such as NISP.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage system inter-segment ICDs
  • Coordinate and support definition of, integration with, and migration to Enterprise Initiatives to include NISP and NASP
  • Ensure development needs are accurately captured and documented in requirements and CONOPS. 
  • Track and evaluate allocation of requirements to subsystems and units
  • Support verification activities and provide the government customer recommendations on methodologies and verification approvals
  • Support system and enterprise test program by assisting in the definition and execution of those tests
  • Work with other acquisition offices and support assessment of end-to-end acquisitions ability to close on mission requirements
  • Travel with the U.S. approximately 8-12 times a year


  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Management/Technology, Computer Engineering or similar technical field
  • 5+ years’ professional experience with NRO ground systems or similar space command and control systems
  • Experience with NRO organization structure and systems engineering  business processes
  • Familiarity with cloud initiatives and successful migration of operational systems to those constructs
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritize competing requirements and tasks
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills

Desired Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Information Management/Technology, Computer Engineering or similar technical field
  • Proven ability to effectively work with large team of Government, FFRDC, and SETA contractors as well as with major development contractors
