Description

SAIC is seeking a Jr. or Mid-level Orbit Modeling Analyst to join the National Security Group (NSCG). NSCG provides specialized program management, engineering, analysis and operations support to a variety of Intelligence Community (IC) and Department of Defense (DoD) customers. We support the generation after next of national security-related systems based in space, in the air and on the ground.
 
This position participates in future concept and resiliency studies for space constellations conducted by an internal group of technical subject matter experts across multiple disciplines.  As a participant in these studies, knowledge of orbital mechanics, general spacecraft operations, and an interest in building and modifying existing simulation software is desired.  The person gets to participate in critical modeling of space situational awareness and work with subject matter experts in a range of fields such as orbital dynamics, optics and radars.

Qualifications

  • BS in aerospace engineering, mathematics, physics or operations research.
  • 2 years of in orbit mechanics, spacecraft engineering or vehicle mission design
  • Experience with some orbit modeling tools such as STK or Free-Flyer
  • Experience with using a programming language
  • Desire to develop simulation software as required to complete analytic studies
  • Active TS/SCI w/Poly

Desired Qualifications

 

  • Experience with Orbit mechanics that includes propagation, orbit determination and covariance analysis
  • Experience with tools such as STK, Free-Flyer, ACTRAC or TRACE
  • Experience or academic background in modeling and simulation practices and techniques
  • Computer programming skills and knowledge that may include either C++, Java, Python or Matlab
  • Experience in using data analytics to evaluate and model complex problems, using either custom made code and libraries or with software packages such as R
