The Mechanical Subsystems Directorate (MSD), Land Warfare / Precision Control Mechanisms Group is currently searching for a Sr.Mechanical Design Engineer II to work on a multi-discipline team to lead the design of land warfare and missile subsystems using the CAD tool CREO (Pro/E). This position is located in Tucson, AZ.
Responsibilities may include concept development, detailed design, analysis, integration and test, and support of transition to production efforts. Additional duties may include factory production line support in the areas of root cause and corrective action and problem resolution at various suppliers. Candidate will work closely with Integrated Product Team Leads/Program Managers ensuring engineering requirements are defined, risks are managed and schedules/budgets are met. Candidate will work in a self-directed manner, with only general guidance, while exercising responsibility in determining and meeting the technical, financial and schedule objectives of projects. The candidate will also mentor and oversee and be responsible for the work of younger team members. As a Mechanical Engineer, decisions are data driven in nature and require preparing technical justification analysis reports as well as presenting to a variety of Engineering Review Boards.
Required Education, Experience and Skills:
US Citizenship is required
Minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, or other
A minimum of Six (6) years of experience in engineering relative to mechanical design and / or production support
Mechanical aptitude to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite Proficient in 3D CAD tools (modeling and drawing)
Applied experience with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance
Must currently have or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret clearance
Desired Education, Experience and Skills:
Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or other Engineering discipline
Experience with Finite Element Analysis
Proficient in Creo (modeling and drawing) 3D modeling CAD tools
Working knowledge of Raytheon Missile Systems processes and procedures
Industry related mechanical design and documentation experience
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; both verbally and written with an ability to work in or lead teams and holding oneself accountability to delivering technical solutions to schedule commitments and within budget The ability to decompose higher level tasks into discrete lower level work packages and tasks
Experience on or leading technical investigative teams relative to establishing root cause and recommendations for corrective action including implementation plans
Expertise in mechanical subsystems design and packaging, materials, tolerance application, thermal, structural analysis, energetics principals, control systems, interconnect, airframe, large assembly development, and / or design for producibility
