Description

SAIC is seeking a Software Engineer with a strong background in Linux that will work in a collaborative team-focused environment and be responsible for the development of new features as well as apply security patches to a customized Ubuntu-based client machine build and a set of CentOS-based servers.  Daily activities include administering high-level tasks on the servers as well as providing Tier 3 support for the client build.  Development tasks typically involve script and/or code changes while accounting for integration between developer code, the OS, VMware, the browser, and hardware to provide for a simplified and unified user environment and experience. 

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and experience commensurate with the requested level in software engineering.  If no degree, 6+ years' experience in software engineering.
  • 4+ years' experience working in software engineering, applications development, and/or web application development and deployment
  • 4+ years' demonstrated experience and knowledge of software life-cycle management and ability to develop robust, production-ready software using BASH, Perl, or JavaScript.
  • Additional experience with PHP and MySQL (MariaDB).
  • 4+ years' experience with Linux administration and an intimate knowledge of the inner workings of Debian-based Linux, specifically Ubuntu.
  • Experience with VMware Workstation/Player.
  • Experience with firewalls, network connectivity, and encryption.
  • TS/SCI with Poly required

Desired Qualifications

 

  • Experience with Red Hat- based Linux, specifically CentOS.
  • Experience with HTML, Firefox extension development, and Linux LiveCD customization.
  • Working knowledge of LDAP and Kerberos for Linux user authentication and authorization.
  • Knowledge of Agile development using SAFe.
  • Experience with JIRA.
