Cyber Security Engineer responsible for designing; developing; analyzing; troubleshooting; and documenting wireless network security infrastructure. Performs problem isolation and resolution; monitors; tunes and sets standards for wireless networks and underlying infrastructure. Provide client consulting and training on the interfacing and use of the network security facilities. Write, manage, and maintain wireless and mobility policies and procedures for the organization. Plans and coordinates computer wireless network initiatives. Devise solutions to operational problems within the capacity and operational limitations of installed equipment. Provide internal consulting; technical guidance; information and support to application developers; computer operations; workstation support; company management and departmental clients. Works with and directs other network professionals as required to coordinate efforts in order to resolve cross-team issues and communicate changes. Provide technical expertise to monitor authorized wireless connections as well as detecting, locating, and removing rogue wireless devices. Maintain wireless and mobile Risk Management Framework (RMF) packages for associated systems and software.

  • Serves as an expert for Wireless Security 
  • Extensive experience with WiFi Architecture
  • Design; implement; and support enterprise WLAN security infrastructure by performing and documenting 802.11 wireless surveys and wireless security surveys at multiple installation sites. 
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain security products across multiple networks.
  • Experience using Air Magnet Survey, Spectrum, and WiFi Analyzer; analyzing collected RF data to determine cell boundaries; AP power settings; and noise and interference sources is preferred.
  • Will determine AP and WIDS sensor placements and deploy sensors as designed; and perform post-implementation surveys in order to optimize WLAN performance and WIDS coverage.
  • Experience using wireless security and auditing tools to detect and locate rogue wireless APs and clients.
  • Demonstrate hands on knowledge of Smart-Phone operating systems; security and wireless connectivity features. 
  • Integrate knowledge of building construction; RF propagation and current hardware vendor limitations to create a design proposal. 
  • Receive and analyze network alerts from various sources within the enclave and determine possible causes of such alerts-McAfee HBSS Admin background to include hands on experience with DLP.
  • Provide customer support for McAfee endpoint products on multiple networks.
  • Experience with vulnerability management and ACAS.
  • Coordinate with enclave CND staff to validate network alerts 
  • Perform analysis of log files from a variety of sources within the enclave; to include individual host logs; network traffic logs; firewall logs; and intrusion detection system logs.
  • Notify CND managers; CND incident responders; and other team members of suspected CND incidents and articulate the events history; status; and potential impact for further action.
  • Familiar with Network Access Control implementation and management 
  • Coordinates with higher authorities on events that involve actual or attempted intrusions; viruses; worms; hoaxes; etc. that occur on the enclaves.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable security policies; regulations; and compliance documents specifically related to WLAN security auditing.
  • Perform vulnerability assessments within the enclave utilizing Tenable NESSUS Network Security Scanner and DISA STIGs.  
  • Implement and enforce security policies and procedures reflecting applicable laws; policies; procedures; and regulations.
  • Provide incident reports; summaries; and other situational awareness information to higher headquarters
  • Manage an incident (e.g.; coordinate documentation; work efforts; resource utilization within the organization) from inception to final remediation and after action reporting

Knowledge; Skills and Abilities



  • Extensive experience in security/ Wireless networking; preferably college campus; hospitals and retails wifi design
  • Security+ and have the ability to attain (GAWN) GIAC Assessing and Auditing Wireless Networks certification required
  • Experience with ACAS and Nessus
  • Familiar with RMF and Authority to Operate (ATO) processes and procedures
  • Familiar with configuring, installing, planning, and maintaining AirTight systems
  • ITIL v3 Foundation certification preferred
  • Technical Administration and in depth experience with Wireless Network Security and Wireless Network Auditing
  • Is competent in most areas of information systems security; including policy; security standards; network; application; database and physical
  • Good communication skills; shows tact; effective listening skills and follow through
  • Ability to make recommendations to security flaws in question
  • Maintain requirements of DoD 8570.1
