Job Title:
Afghan Air Force (AAF) UAE Maintenance Mentor

Job Description:
The Maintenance Mentor shall implement and operate programs, practices, and procedures for developing Afghan Air Force enlisted maintenance students undergoing Maintenance training. Mentors will assist Afghan Air Force (AAF) maintenance students with Maintenance Mentoring during and after duty hours reinforcing maintenance training classroom content and hands-on practices required to meet Afghan MX Level 3 certification. Mentor will work closely with the aviation academy Training department in order to maximize students learning success. Mentors will help establish a positive working and learning environment for students through the application of basic military standards and discipline. Work location will be at a private aviation training academy in the United Arab Emirates. Mentors may participate in performance review boards.

Required Hours:
Work may include nights, holidays, and weekends on short notice. Standard will be to conduct training six (6) days per week for up to twelve (12) hours per day while at OCONUS work site(s) and a standard 40 hour work week while in CONUS.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct effective delivery of Maintenance mentoring.
  • Ensure students conformity with training curriculum.
  • Provide feedback on student’s performance and progress.
  • Write and maintain reports and documents as required.
  • Monitor/audit classes being taught by the selected sub-contractor.
  • Teach conversational English in a non-classroom setting to groups of Afghan students at their accommodations.
  • Mentor shall report to Location Site Manager.
  • Mentor will be responsible for regularly interacting with academy staff as well as US military personnel.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of six (6) years of maintenance instruction experience on the C208 or equivalent aircraft and/or combination of instruction experience, education and or training/qualification(s) directly related to the C-208 aircraft or equivalent in the required specialties.
  • Must be a Native English speaker.
  • Must have experience as a PC/QC NCIOC.
  • Must have experience in professional mentoring.
  • Strong Project Management ability and skills.
  • Strong MS Office Skills.
  • Experience/sensitivity with diverse cultures.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Must meet medical criteria for deployment and living in UAE.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card via the National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) process
  • Must possess a US Passport with at least 6 months of remaining eligibility
  • Must be able to obtain an Afghanistan Visa

Required Education:
Bachelor's degree from accredited school & four (4) years of related experience, OR two (2) years related experience with Master's degree. Eight (8) years of additional equivalent work experience (12 total years) may be accepted in lieu of BA/BS education requirement.

Desired Qualifications:
  • FAA Airframe & Power Plant license holder.
  • Avionics repair experience.
  • Five years’ experience conducting and supervising US Fixed Wing turbo-prop maintenance programs
  • Previously qualified as a school trained Allied Shops Supervisor or Aviation Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO).
  • Technical Inspector designation on the C208 Aircraft
  • Experience as a Production Control or Quality Control Supervisor in a Maintenance Unit supporting C208 or turboprop airplanes
  • Experience in English language instruction at an accredited institution.
  • CELTA /or TESOL Certificate – Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.
  • Experience working overseas.
  • Previous experience training and advising foreign military soldiers.

This position requires either a U.S. Person or who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.
