Description

SAIC is seeking a Senior Transition Engineer for the Global Positioning System (GPS) Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) Team. The GPS SE&I Team provides specialized engineering, analysis, operations support, and subject matter expertise to the SMC/GP Directorate and other GPS customers.  The Team also provides systems engineering and analysis services to include system development, enterprise and system architecture, acquisition, testing, operations, and sustainment support for existing and new capabilities. Team members provide an enterprise perspective for identification and review of risks and risk mitigation plans and work to institutionalize systems engineering best practices across the SMC/GP Directorate organization.  Major duties of this position include:

  • Plans, integrates and makes technical recommendations in the execution of GPS Transition to Operations activities to create a seamless transition from Operation Control System (OCS) to Military –Code Early Use (MCEU) and Operational Control System Next (OCX)
  • Plans, integrates and makes technical recommendations in the sustainment of OCS, OCS Modifications, and the development of MCEU and OCX. Integrates & makes technical recommendations and plans for: OCS, GPS SV Sustainability Modifications & Upgrades, MCEU, and OCX. Develops and coordinates the GPS OCX Ops Acceptance Criteria and Ops Acceptance Plan, and GPS OCX Turnover Agreement, and Tracks AFI 63-119 criteria and develops plans to achieve PEO Certification of OCX
  • Represents Transition and provides technical recommendations and system expertise support to SMC capability Integrated Product Teams.
  • Interfaces with SMC via the GPS Transition Team and various organizations within SMC supporting OCX and GPS III development.
  • Assesses strategy changes impacting GPS Modernization CONOPS & Resources and facilitates O-6 level coordination and collaboration across GP Divisions, 50th Space Wing and HQ AFSPC to include: Min Crew Manning (MCM), Space Mission Force (SMF), Contractor Ops, Integrated Ops Environment (IOE 2.0), Enterprise Ground System (EGS), Joint National Space Defense Center (NSDC), Training Transformation,  Space Enterprise Vision (SEV), Space Warfighting Construct (SWC), Multi-Domain Command & Control (MDC2), and Future payloads impact to and integration with Operations to include GPS IIIF and additional payload data dissemination.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree, 20+ years of relevant experience
  • Current DoD Top Secret Security Clearance
  • Ability to think critically, synthesize information from multiple sources into comprehensive plans, assimilate diverse user and mission needs, identify technical issues, and understand impacts within and external to the GPS Enterprise 
  • Effective interpersonal skills, ability to conduct system engineering and integration, development of analysis reports, build and cultivate teams, and strong briefing and writing skills for direct interactions with senior government and contractor personnel are essential
  • Knowledge of GPS Transition Testing and operational Transition events, knowledge of GPS simulators and their capabilities/limitations

Desired Qualifications

 

  • Master or Bachelor of Science in technical field, such as Engineering, Math, or Sciences
  • Direct experience managing operational transitions and fielding of complex systems 
  • AF acquisition professional education
  • Experience with Test and GPS External Interfaces
  • Experience with HQ AFSPC, 14 AF, HANU, CSpOC, NSA, SNL, or USNO
