Description:--Lockheed Martin Advanced Development Program--SKUNK WORKS-- -- Plasma Physicist and Neutronics
Lockheed Martin Skunk Works is looking for a Propulsion Engineer to continue our 75 year tradition of developing advanced systems. This position is deployed to the Revolutionary Technology Programs (RTP) team to provide technical support. Expected to support team’s performance on projects related to the analysis, design, and testing of plasma physics experiments. The position more generally requires working in a small, fast moving team on concept level analysis, study of plasma stability and behavior, as well as detailed design of experimental hardware and experiments. Solving complex technical problems and providing innovative solutions in the area of neutronics relating to research and development. Leading activities with other functional teams to meet design and program requirements. Providing subject matter expertise to supplier/vendor base and production operations to support resolution of technical issues. Develop and deliver plans, schedules, metrics, and reports. Review and approval of planning as well as providing support to emerging technologies. Responsible for creation, revision, review, and approval of engineering specifications and other documents for adherence to program requirements. Requires use of MS Office software tools to compile data, reduce data, and generate reports. Ability to multi-task, handle shifting priorities and timeline pressure to meet project deadlines. Strong verbal and written communication skills are highly desirable. Occasional overtime and odd hours required. Candidate must be able to work in a manufacturing and laboratory environment, including wearing radiation safety badge. Must be able to obtain a Secret security clearance. Selected applicant must also possess, or be able to obtain, special access program clearances.
Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
--Bachelor's or above degree in Physics, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or Electrical Engineering with strong background in plasma physics.
--Proficient with MS Office tools
--Ph.D. in Physics, Nuclear Engineering or related field Physics, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or Electrical Engineering with strong background in plasma physics is preferred.
Experience working with neutronic(s) systems including design, assembly of, testing and data analysis
--Experience with diagnostic system development for plasma physics research.
--Experience with plasma thrusters, fusion, or plasma manufacturing.
--Good oral presentation and written skills.
--A well organized, self-starter able to take direction, work effectively independently or in a team environment.
--Demonstrated effective interpersonal relationship and communication skills.
--Demonstrated technical leadership experience.
--Research background in experimental diagnostics.
