Job Summary

AECOM’s Water Business Line is seeking a Senior Designer in Los Angeles, CA. You will provide civil and structural design focused support including surface modeling, point creation, corridor modeling, pipe and structure networks, plan and profile. As a contributor on the regional team, will utilize the latest technology the industry offers and have the opportunity to support diverse multi-discipline projects and gain a greater understanding of the details that make a project successful.

Working under the general supervision of project leaders, will perform advanced technical work utilizing a wide variety of resources, digital tools and hardware with responsibilities including:

  • Perform various responsibilities for a specific technical group or department.

  • Has full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments.

  • Generally requires multi-disciplinary knowledge of design.

  • Plans and develops technical design tasks concerned with unique or controversial problems. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches.

  • Maintains liaison with units within the organization and individuals inside and outside of the organization.

  • Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field. Work at this level usually requires extensive progressive experience.

  • Works under minimal supervision. Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.

  • Supervises group of designers, coordinating activities of the unit which support the regions design teams.

Minimum Requirements

HS + 6 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong software background in: AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, C4R, BIM 360, Bently Inroads, Microstation and Projectwise

  • CADD project coordination and reviews

  • CADD Standard development

  • Visual rendering output using Infraworks, 3DS Max or other tools

  • Supporting projects from numerous server types, local and virtual

  • Supporting internal and external project standards

  • Mentoring other CAD production staff

  • Training and supervising work flow and seminars
