The Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) Mission Assurance organization is looking to fill our Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer II position.
It is our goal to ensure that known good parts and services are received from the supply chain. We work collaboratively with our internal functional counterparts to ensure requirements flow down and TDP’s will result in product that performs in the system and services that meet performance requirements. We provide Basis of Estimates to the program to ensure proper funding. We conduct supplier oversight through requirements reviews, in-process and final inspection at supplier’s facilities, perform ‘value-added’ incoming inspection within the company to ensure compliance. We perform robust containment, root cause, corrective action and validation of supplier caused defects.
The responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
Provide Supplier Quality Engineering support to assigned programs at the El Segundo, CA site, with limited supervision.
Tasks include management of supplier corrective actions, maintaining monthly reports of the supplier corrective actions, coordinating, participating, and potentially conducting enterprise supplier assessments, defect data analysis, collaborating with subcontracts, engineering, and supply chain management to identify, resolve, and monitor supplier quality issues, and verification of supplier’s abilities to meeting program requirements and corrective actions which includes tracking and applying product variance documents, evaluating supplier routers, and auditing supplier planning
Drive robust and closed loop supplier corrective actions with vendors
Develop and implement Supplier Quality plans for the programs
Lead and participate in multi-functional teams in process improvement activities using Six Sigma quality tools.
Create and maintain Basis of Estimates for Supplier Quality work content; coordinate submission with Quality
Perform defect data analysis and review with the program managers and supplier management, which will assist in developing Supplier improvement plans
Participate in Supplier Surveillance and engagement plans, and ensure communication of actions and results to the Supplier Quality and Program Leadership
Develop and deploy Supplier Assessments
Work with supplier personnel and program management to identify root cause and corrective actions to reduce supplied product defects
Participate with Supply Chain and Engineering teams early on the Supplier selection process to mitigate supplier risk and ensure that key program requirements are flown down to vendors
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Secret Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.
6 years of related Quality experience
Experience in a production environment
Experience in working with external suppliers
Experience with closed-loop corrective action systems, nonconforming material control system and configuration management practices
Demonstrated ability to drive robust and closed loop corrective action over an extended period of time
Strong written, verbal and presentation skills for interaction at various levels of management with the suppliers. Trip reports, written reports, six sigma projects, power point presentations, and leading problem solving teams are all expected to be developed skills or high potential skills
Strong follow through and ability to work with Engineers to develop practical solutions to a wide range of problems in quality systems, materials, electronics, optics, and mechanical products
Understand the use and the purpose of corrective action containment and root cause and appropriate escalation.
Must be proficient with Microsoft office suite software
Proficient in Causal analysis and using tools. (i.e. 5-whys’, FMEA, Fishbone, etc.)
Working knowledge of Quality systems (AS9100/ISO 9000), Statistical analysis processes and tools, Configuration Management, and Mission Assurance.
Knowledge of assembly/manufacturing, integration and test operations.
ASQ certified: CQE, CQA, or CQ Manager.
Knowledge of or experience with Purchase Order and Contract review for Quality Requirements flow down.
Candidates in this position should be able to resolve technical issues with respect to product processes, systems, and deliverables in engineering, supply chain and quality and at the supplier.
Existing Secret Clearance
BS Engineering (General, Math, Physics, Material Science, Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical/Engineering Technology Disciplines)
Bachelor of Arts Degrees in an appropriate field of science (Computer Science, Chemistry and Physics)
Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics
