Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a highly talented Project Engineer to support our US Oil & Gas business. This position will be based in Greenwood Village (Denver), CO.

The Project Engineer will communicate directly with our clients and lead AECOM Project Teams in the execution of all phases of projects from proposal support through project execution. The Project Engineer provides oversight to lead discipline engineers/designers, project administrators, project controls representatives, and procurement representative assigned to the project. The Project Engineer will take direction from Project Manager and Operations Director.

The Project Engineer is responsible for leading project activities and assisting in other project engineering activities including: scope development, overall engineering and design coordination, project resource loading, cost estimating and reporting, scheduling and forecasting, material requisitions, HSE support, construction management, RFI, and start-up assistance.

The Project Engineer is responsible for building upon existing internal and external relationships to maximize the capture of new work in the areas of support to Oil & Gas clients.

Job Summary:

  • Manages portfolio of clients with multiple projects with emphasis on repeat business

  • Works closely with Project Managers on multiple projects or program of projects.

  • Supports detail mechanical engineering/design.

  • Responsible for consistent, accurate deliverables

  • Dependably delivers planned profit margins without write-downs or multiplier erosion

  • Manages more complex clients and projects

  • Has decision-making authority and advises Project Managers in recognizing uncertainty with plans to mitigate risk and exposure to claims

Minimum Requirements

Project Engineer IV

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree and 6 (six) years of combined experience including discipline engineering, lead discipline engineering role, project engineering, or project management experience in the oil, gas, refining, power and/or petrochemical industry or demonstrated equivalent experience.

AND

  • Process/Mechanical engineering background and able to assist with equipment sizing, specification, data sheets, and material requisition development.

  • Previous experience with ASME code pressure vessel designs, pumps, tanks, heaters, flares, equipment skid designs that utilize piping, instrumentation, pumps, vessels, buildings, platforms, etc.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Outlook

  • Must have excellent leadership ability, communication skills, interpersonal skills, and sound judgement as well as significant cross-discipline and project execution knowledge

  • Candidate must be self-motivated, organized, and able to work productively with minimal supervision or in a team environment

  • Must be able to travel to local industrial field project locations for field inspections, construction contractor coordination, P&ID walkdowns, verification of installations, which includes walking, climbing ladders, etc.

OR

Project Engineer V

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree and 8 (eight) years of combined experience including discipline engineering, lead discipline engineering role, project engineering, or project management experience in the oil, gas, refining, power and/or petrochemical industry or demonstrated equivalent experience.

AND

  • Process/Mechanical engineering background and able to assist with equipment sizing, specification, data sheets, and material requisition development.

  • Previous experience with ASME code pressure vessel designs, pumps, tanks, heaters, flares, equipment skid designs that utilize piping, instrumentation, pumps, vessels, buildings, platforms, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university program.

  • Professional Engineering License.

  • Preferred experience with production equipment and capability of managing upstream projects.

  • Project Management Certification.
