The selected candidate will have an opportunity to be part of a large Environmental, Health & Safety organization in the role of an Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHS&S) generalist. The selected candidate must be a self-starter, energetic and able to work in a fast-pace collaborative team environment.

This ideal candidate will have relevant safety experience with strength in developing creative injury reduction programs or campaigns. The candidate is comfortable taking calculated risks and has a proven a track record for continuous improvement for safety and industrial hygiene programs to achieve desired goals. Timely support for multiple customers, requests and projects on a daily basis is required. Candidate should have strong communications, interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence to influence internal and external functional groups including engineers, factory line employees, management and regulators.

Assigned EHS&S duties may include but not limited to:

  • Support business unit and site injury reduction, safety, industrial hygiene, environmental and sustainability goals, projects and initiatives
  • Manage and continuously improve assigned EHS&S programs such as but not limited to Contractor Safety, Cryogenics, Electrical Safety, IIPP, Job Hazard Analysis, LOTO, Personal Protective Equipment, Safe Operating Procedures, Slip/Trip/Fall Prevention, and Behavior Based Safety
  • Analysis of leading and lagging safety performance indicators for trends to drive corrective actions to improve current programs to achieve desired goals
  • Serve as EHS&S POC for assigned building safety council
  • Conduct first aid and OSHA injury investigations and root cause analysis and develop corrective actions and track to completion
  • Lead projects to ensure promote health and safety of Raytheon employees and contractors.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of SAS EHSS strategic initiatives that drive continuous improvement to achieve our mission and vision
  • Develop programs, processes and procedures to improve EHSS programs, culture for employees and contractors
  • Support site emergency preparedness team in responding to various emergencies
  • Support the improvement of business and site EHSS communications plan
  • Develop and deliver EHS&S training to affected employees and contractors
  • Interpretation of OSHA, NIOSH, ANSI standards and regulations
Required Skills:
  • Extensive knowledge and the application of Cal/OSHA regulations and ANSI Standards
  • Extensive knowledge and the application of the principals of safety
  • Ability to accurately diagnose general and complex EHSS issues related to Raytheon operations, determine appropriate or practical controls, and implement practical and effective solutions in a timely manner
  • Ability to effectively organize and manage multiple projects and programs in a fast-pace environment and demonstrate effective prioritization and implementation skills
  • Ability to provide clear, concise, and effective verbal communications
  • Well-developed written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to plan, organize, delegate, and follow-up on work flow in a team environment to meet departmental goals and objectives
  • Proven ability to use email, and Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Project
  • Good understanding of database and use of other information gathering systems
  • Well-organized and have excellent attention to detail and thoroughness with accomplishing tasks from inception through completion in a multi-tasking environmental
  • Be flexible to take on additional assignments, campaigns and rotations to other EHSS Programs
  • U.S. Citizenship Status is Required as this position will require the ability to Access US Only Data Systems.
Desired Skills:
  • 6 years’ experience in managing general safety programs
  • Certified Safety Professional or Certified Industrial Hygienist
  • Experience in the implementation of Behavioral Based Safety program
  • Experienced in developing and conducting creative EHSS training
  • Ability to read and understand architectural, electrical, mechanical, structural, and civil engineering drawings
  • Ability to handle stressful situations
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, but will not hesitate to seek additional information from supervisors or peers so tasks can be completed timely and correctly
  • Current 24-Hour First Responder Operations training
  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction training
Required Education:
  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health & Safety, Chemistry, Biology, Industrial/Safety Engineering, or related field
Desired Education:
  • Masters of Science Degree Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health & Safety, Chemistry, Biology, Industrial/Safety Engineering, or related field
