The Vehicle and SPE Logistician is responsible for logistical support, distribution, and accountability of vehicles and special protective equipment (SPE) for assigned security program. Duties may include procurement, receiving, shipping, maintenance scheduling/tracking, repairs scheduling/tracking, serviceability, transfer of equipment, and maintenance of an active and accurate record of all sensitive items for assigned program.
Principal Accountabilities (Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract)
Maintain an active and accurate record of all assigned vehicles and vehicle equipment to include medical kits and other special protective equipment (SPE).
Manage and report on status of regularly scheduled fleet maintenance and repairs.
Manage the delivery and disposals of AV as they enter and exit their useful life.
Monitor and report on the installation and scheduling of all of vehicle suspension, power, electronic countermeasure and tactical radios upgrades while maintaining proper accountability of special vehicle equipment.
Maintain a vehicle inventory tracking database ensuring accurate vehicle configuration and locations are maintained.
Coordinate with program to track incoming AV arriving in-country and monitor and facilitate the registration process to properly register AV in a timely manner to be put into operational use.
Additional duties may include, vehicle procurement (drafting and reviewing documents), receiving, shipping, maintenance scheduling/tracking, repairs scheduling/tracking, serviceability, fuel logs, dispatch records, transfer of vehicles, and maintain an active and accurate record of all vehicles assigned to protective operations.
Manage the SPE inventory and tracking database, storage and replenishment of items in a timely manner.
Maintain an active and accurate record of all assigned equipment to include weapons, ammunition, radios, ballistic vests, ancillary protective equipment, medical kits and chemical-bio equipment.
Ensure issued items are in operational use while at the same time maintaining proper accountability.
Schedule repairs or issue replacement of equipment and manage the delivery and disposal of equipment as it enters and exits its useful life.
Coordinate the tracking of incoming gear arriving in-country and monitor and facilitate the process in a timely manner to be put into operational use. Due to current high threat austere environment personnel have to plan at least four to six months in advance in this capacity.
Monitor purchase orders, liaison with the purchasing section, all while monitoring and reporting on internal controls and accountability.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Skills
Ability to coordinate between Regional Security Office and numerous Embassy offices responsible related to budgets and logistics.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Basic knowledge of protective equipment and equipment inventories
Ability to solve problems and reconcile discrepancies as they arise
Strong oral and written skills
Experience & Education
Six (6) months experience in protective operations, general administrative, or customer service required.
