This opportunity will allow you to gain a diverse project management experience with our clients in major Infrastructure, Defence, Aviation, Energy & Resources, Vertical Infrastructure, Education and Healthcare.

The Role

Due to long-term project pipeline and growth we are currently looking for a Project Manager to work with our key client in Queenstown and assist in the delivery of their civil infrastructure program from completion of business case through to design, procurement and construction phases.

AECOM’s role as Project Manager will be a key point of contact, working with AECOM colleagues and our client in their Queenstown project office. Your role of Project Manager will work across various locations and sites across central Otago.

You will gain exposure to a number of procurement models, including construct only, design and build and ECI, while working with a variety of stakeholders as a key point of contact throughout project lifecycle. Therefore you will ideally have a project management background, coupled with prior exposure to civil engineering or civil infrastructure construction standards and frameworks in New Zealand.

Minimum Requirements

The position of Project Manager will suit a proven Project Manager with a broad understanding of Project Management principles and frameworks, alongside a proven knowledge in construction methodology and experience in client-side project delivery.

We will consider a wide range of experience levels the role of Project Manager and will be broadly looking for some or all the following specific criteria;

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or similar

  • Broad Project Management experience in a civil construction environment

  • Proven ability to deliver projects on time, to schedule and to client parameters including a basic understanding of project management frameworks

  • Ability to confidently support projects and Senior Project Managers in delivering projects worth up to $20m in capital value

  • A demonstrable background in commercial acumen and the ability to develop stakeholder relationships.

  • Demonstrated commitment to collaborative, ethical behaviour in a client-facing environment

  • Strong commitment to safety and understanding of OH&S best practice and obligations.

  • Familiarity with financial and contractual obligations and a confidence in holding such discussions with clients

  • Strong ability to influence and confidence in negotiation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ideally, Project Management diploma or similar (not essential)

  • Civil Engineering or Infrastructure project exposure
