Leidos’ Defense Systems Land Systems is seeking a Rapid Response Engineer to join our team…with the ability and experience to work missile defense projects within the BMD Simulations and Analysis Portfolio. As a Rapid Response Engineer, you will have the opportunity to use your troubleshooting skills to investigate anomalies, defects or issues in products or processes, using structured methodologies (5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.) to find underlying causes, assess impacts, and implement prototype solutions with cross-functional teams, documenting findings for stakeholders. In this role, you will also work across multiple software products and tools at the customer site or within the Agile SW development environment. The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, be a strong team player, and have the ability to establish solid working relationships with peers and technical staff members within the program.

Primary Responsibilities
Lead and facilitate root cause analysis investigations for complex technical issues, product failures, process deviations, and quality incidents
Collect and analyze relevant data from various sources, including product data, test results, customer feedback, and system logs
Conduct detailed failure analysis investigations on software product observations
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including SW product management, SW developers, system architects, test engineers, system administrators, lab integrators, and other stakeholders, to gather information and develop comprehensive solutions
Document findings and present conclusions and recommended corrective and preventive actions to stakeholders and management
Develop and implement effective solutions to prevent product defect or process issues from recurring.
Identify systemic issues and opportunities for improvement across processes and SW products based on recurring root causes
Provide training and coaching on RCA methodologies and problem-solving techniques to other team members
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with 20-25 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 15-20 years of prior relevant experience
Proven experience and in-depth knowledge of C++, java or Python
Excellent hardware and software debugging skills (Hands-on and Remote).
Basic skills with version control tools such as Git
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data, diagnose configuration errors, and identify causal relationships.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Mus be a US citizen possess and maintain an Active secret clearance
Full time onsite support
Candidate MUST be a resident of the North Alabama area
Preferred Qualifications
Agile Scrum Experience
Experience with Java and user interfaces
Experience with Jira - issue tracking and agile project management, or similar tool
Multi-core and multi-threaded programming
Familiarity with MDA Sensors and/or missile defense systems
Familiarity with modeling and simulation tools
Understanding of systems engineering concepts (not required to be a systems engineer)
Knowledge of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
