The University of South Alabama’s Registrar’s Office is seeking to hire an Academic Records Specialist. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions

These are the job duties required of the position.

Essential Functions
  • Evaluates post-secondary academic credentials.
  • Ensures transfer institution is accredited.
  • Evaluates transfer credit and makes a final determination of appropriate credits.
  • Obtains course descriptions, catalogs, and institutional information via web research and online transfer databases.
  • Contacts colleges and universities to obtain needed documents.
  • Enters data in Banner, the student information system.
  • Maintains evaluation checklist and related materials in Xtender, the document imaging software.
  • Assists with maintaining transfer articulation databases and updates TES (Transfer Evaluation System) with standard equivalencies as needed.
  • Interacts by telephone, email, written correspondence and in-person to address questions and concerns of prospective and currently enrolled students, University departments, advisors, and the general public regarding transferability of academic credit.
  • Ensures accuracy and compliance with University requirements to maintain academic integrity.
  • Adheres to student confidentiality rights as legislated with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974 in handling academic records and responding to third party requestors.
  • Must be able to lift boxes weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • Attends special events that may require working nights and weekends.
  • Regular and prompt attendance.
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
  • Related duties as required.
