The University of South Alabama’s Maintenance Department is seeking to hire a Maintenance Mechanic II. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions

These are the job duties required of the position.

Essential Functions
  • Performs various trades in the maintenance and repair of buildings and/or equipment.
  • Supervises lower level technical employees to include assigning duties and checking work. Responds to maintenance calls and performs a variety of work to include electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
  • Performs electric and acetylene welding, brazing, and cutting.
  • Operates power lathes, drill presses, threading machines, and grinding machines.
  • Installs ceiling tiles.
  • Serves as essential personnel during University closings.
  • Accesses various campus facilities and job sites which may require climbing stairs, ladders, and scaffolding, working at heights in excess of 30 feet, working in inclement weather, and bending, stooping, and kneeling.
  • Operates a University vehicle to travel to and from work sites and to transport materials.
  • Moves items weighing up to 100lbs.
  • Regular and prompt attendance.
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
  • Related duties as required.
