We have an exciting opportunity for a Construction Technician I based in Fort Smith, AR.This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. Construction employees participate in an on-call schedule assigned by seniority. This position will require occasional after-hours and weekend overtime hoursPOSITION SUMMARYThe job consists of general pipeline construction work including, but not limited to: Shoveling, Hand digging, RakingAssisting the welder with both steel welds and plastic fusionSpotting for the equipment operator while digging ditches and uncovering existing utility linesRunning errandsTraining for plastic fusion of pipelinesEDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE High School graduateValid Class A CDL prior to the first day of work and obtain a Tanker EndorsementKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES The following are job requirements: A safe driving record Ability to walk long distances over rough terrain Able to lift up to 40 pounds Capable of climbing in and out of excavations of up to 12 feet deep while carrying 25 pounds Can work in all types of inclement weather (heat, cold, rain, etc.) Must pass a job specific physical examination and drug screen as administered by designated company clinic.The position is covered under the D.O.T. regulations and Summit Utilities Drug and Alcohol Policy and is, therefore, subject to all terms of the Policy, including the random selection for drug testing.
