HVAC Technician – Healthcare Facilities

We are seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to support mission-critical healthcare facilities where comfort, safety, and reliability matter every day. In this role, you'll work hands-on with advanced HVAC and environmental control systems that directly support patient care, clinical operations, and staff well-being.

What You'll Do

You will install, maintain, service, and repair a wide range of HVAC and environmental control systems, including:

  • Heat exchangers, chillers, cooling towers, ventilation and exhaust systems

  • Building automation systems (BAS), controllers, and humidity controls

  • Split systems, supply and return air ducts, air handling units, and data room cooling systems

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems using best practices in refrigeration theory, pipefitting, and electrical controls

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering specifications

  • Maintain refrigerant inventory and usage documentation

  • Mount compressors, condenser units, evaporators, and associated components

  • Cut, bend, solder, and connect refrigerant tubing and piping

  • Install and test expansion, discharge, and control valves

  • Connect motors, compressors, fans, and control panels to power sources

  • Test systems for pressure, vacuum integrity, and refrigerant leaks

  • Repair or replace electrical components such as breakers, thermostats, switches, wiring, and fuses

  • Maintain air handlers, dampers, motors, fans, drain pans, and control panels in clean, operational condition

  • Monitor and maintain chemical treatment levels in closed-loop systems

  • Perform lubrication and preventative maintenance per manufacturer and regulatory standards

  • Ensure all work areas and equipment remain clean, safe, and debris-free

  • Follow all safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures

What You Bring

  • HVAC Certification through one of the following:

    • North American Technician Excellence (NATE)

    • ESCO Institute HVAC Excellence (Professional Level)

    • International Code Council (ICC)

    • Documented Journeyman status through a state or nationally recognized apprenticeship

    • DD214-documented Level V (or higher) military HVAC training

  • EPA 608 Universal Certification (required)

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Minimum 4 years of HVAC trade experience

  • 2–3 years of experience in healthcare or critical-care facilities preferred

  • Valid driver's license with insurable driving record

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English

  • Ability to pass drug screening, background check, and obtain NACI clearance

  • All required state, federal, or contract-specific licenses and certifications

Physical Requirements

This role requires regular standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, and working with hands and tools. You must be able to:

  • Lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds as needed

  • Work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, confined spaces, and varied environments

  • Travel to job locations using company or government vehicles
