Overview
The Senior Sanitation Manager is responsible for:
Identifying and managing sanitation projects to ensure product quality and consistency, reduce food safety risk and eliminate waste at AFNA manufacturing sites.
- Developing and implementing performance based sanitation and continuous cleaning of equipment across AFNA enterprise.
- Providing leaders/operational teams with contemporaneous reporting safety and sanitation key indicators.
- Ensuring third party audit sanitation compliance and success at AFNA manufacturing sites.
- Collaborate with AFNA corporate departments and plant leadership to carry out sanitation based holistic loss analysis and reduction responsibilities in accordance with AFNA procedures and applicable regulatory laws.
- Integrate Sanitation improvement projects into Plant Master Plan (TPM) activities in accordance with ANFA Way.
- Troubleshoots environmental positive results and ensures corrective actions are implemented.
- Provides technical sanitation support and feedback to the plant sanitation departments.

Assist leadership in developing and maintaining information Architecture:
- Identify key indicators across manufacturing sites
- Environmental monitoring and follow-up
- Sanitation standards and timelines
- Statistical Process Control
- Overall Plant Effectiveness as following AFNA’s OEE definition
- Preoperational and production startup
- Develop contemporaneous data collection, i.e. the report is generated at the same time as the observation.

- Sanitation standards and timelines
- Develop dashboards for plant and corporate leadership
- Assist site leadership includes not only FSQA/Sanitation but also all plant leadership members in executing and utilizing dashboard information
- Conduct follow up studies and calibrate data with a plant team periodically in order to maintain data integrity
Ensure Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure AFNA manufacturing sites are compliant with FDA/USDA and GFSI requirements.
- Perform plant sanitation audits as necessary to prepare AFNA sites for third party audits
- Assist with risk assessments and appeal letters to defend manufacturing sites from regulatory overreach.
Collaboration and Integration with the AFNA Way
- Collaborate with CI and FI pillar leaders to develop and maintain information architecture.
- Support root cause analysis and problem solving using “See Think Plan Do” methodology.
- Assist plant leadership (TPM pillar leaders) to utilize the key indicators.
- Integrate Sanitation improvement projects into plant master plan.
Qualifications
- Minimum 7 – 10 years of experience in Food Manufacturing Sanitation with at least half of the experience being in a supervisory capacity is required.
- BS or higher degree in Food Science, Meat Science, Microbiology, Biology or other related science. Experience may be considered in the absence of a higher degree.
- TPM (Total Performance Management) /OEE based Food Manufacturing knowledge and experience preferred
- Budget/Cost Control – general understanding of Sanitation budgeting and cost control functions, with ability to perform budgeting/cost control processes.
- Presentation Ability – ability to make clear, concise and convincing business presentations.
- Analytical – ability to independently perform, mentor and manage others in conducting complex technical analysis of sanitation data, and statistical process control (SPC)
- Leadership – ability to act as team leader for special task assignments and manage suppliers through influence.
- Communication Skills – excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing and presentation skills.
- Interpersonal Skills - must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage internal and external support through influence. An outgoing personality with the ability to work individually and in a team environment successfully.
- Organizational Skills – must have excellent organizational skills to prioritize multiple projects with various simultaneous deadlines. Must be detailed and accurate.
- Judgment/Decision Making – ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and make appropriate business judgment and recommendations independent of supervisor. Ability to work under pressure and short time lines
- Computer Skills – working knowledge of Microsoft based software, including Excel, Word and Outlook
- Travel – Approximately 40 – 60%
