Responsibilities

The Director, HRIS is responsible for the strategic direction, governance, optimization, and day-to-day operations of the company’s HR technology portfolio, including Workday HCM and a full suite of ancillary HR systems. This role ensures HR technology supports scalable business processes, delivers a seamless employee experience, and provides actionable insights to leaders across the organization. The Director partners closely with HR, IT, Finance, and business leaders to define system strategy, drive digital transformation, and continuously improve the HR technology landscape.

 

Key Responsibilities

  1. HRIS Leadership: Provide technical expertise and strategic direction for all HRIS systems including HCM, ATS, LMS, etc. Lead the implementation, configuration, and ongoing administration of these systems, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  2. HRIS Strategy and Planning: Collaborate with senior management to establish strategic plans and objectives for HRIS, aligning with organizational goals and objectives.
  3. System Development and Implementation: Oversee the specification, development, and implementation of new or redesigned HRIS systems, reports, and policies, ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance.
  4. Vendor Management: Manage relationships with system vendors, ensuring effective partnerships and optimal system performance.
  5. Training and Documentation: Develop and implement proper training and documentation for system use and maintenance, ensuring HRIS adoption and proficiency across the organization.
  6. Data Administration: Establish data tables, structures, files, interface requirements, and data integrity protocols for ongoing HRIS administration.
  7. Team Leadership: Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the HRIS function, providing guidance and direction as needed.
  8. HRIS Operations Management: Ensure high-performing HRIS operations by:
    • Developing and maintaining incident tracking and management processes to ensure timely resolution of system issues.
    • Establishing and maintaining Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with stakeholders, ensuring compliance and high-quality service delivery.
    • Developing, analyzing, and reporting on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure HRIS performance, efficiency, and effectiveness.
    • Maintaining stakeholder expectations and experience through proactive communication, regular updates, and issue resolution.


Qualifications

Required

  • 8+ years of experience in HRIS, with at least 3 years of experience with Workday HCM
  • Experience managing multiple HR systems simultaneously including HCM, ATS, LMS, etc.
  • Proven expertise in Workday configuration, and administration, including:
    • Workday modules (e.g., Core HCM, Advanced Comp, Payroll, Benefits, Time Off, Performance Management)
    • Workday integrations (e.g., payroll, benefits, time tracking)
    • Workday reporting and analytics
    • Workday security, including user roles, permissions, access controls
  • Strong understanding of HR functional areas, including benefits, compensation, and performance management.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to interact with senior management, executives, and stakeholders.
  • Experience with IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL) and incident management tools.
Preferred

  • Workday Pro or Workday Certified credentials
  • Experience with Workday implementations
  • Familiarity with data governance, security and compliance regulations
  • Advanced degree (MBA or similar)
