Job Summary:
The Scrum Master supports an agile engineering team building mobile-focused user applications. This role provides servant leadership, ensures adherence to Scrum values and practices, facilitates team ceremonies and decision‑making, removes impediments, and drives continuous improvement. Success requires strong interpersonal, project management, and problem‑solving skills, along with the ability to collaborate with and brief senior program and government leaders.
Primary Responsibilities:
Facilitating all Agile/Scrum ceremonies to maximize discussion, collaboration, decision making, and conflict resolution towards delivering solutions for the customer.
Leading the team in grooming activities including: breakdown of work, estimation & story pointing, acceptance criteria and definition of done
Leads and facilitates SAFe ceremonies to include sprint planning, sprint review, demos, sprint retro, and PI planning.
Removing impediments to work or guiding the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to assist.
Collects and shares team metrics with the team, determines when new metrics are needed, and develops improvements in metrics.
Works with Product Owner(s) to develop User Stories to meet the Feature acceptance criteria.
Engaging with government partners as product owners and stakeholders
Facilitating internal (within the team) and external (to leadership/management) communication to provide transparency and accountability of initiative progress;
Coaching, guiding and developing the team on Agile/Scrum principles, mindset, and best practices with emphasis on solutions delivery, continuous improvement, and self-organization.
Familiarity working on programs using the Agile Scrum methodology.
Option to work a 9/80 work schedule (i.e., 9 hour days, then work 8 hours on first Friday and off the second Friday)
Required Qualification:
Position requires US citizenship and an active Secret DoD security clearance
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related field and 4-8 years of related experience. Will consider work experience in lieu of a degree.
Certified Scrum Master (CSM), SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) or similar agile project management certification (PMI-ACP).
At least 5 years of experience working as a Scrum Master or Team Lead for a software development or similar technical team.
Experienced in using agile project management tools (e.g. Jira, VersionOne, Rallye, IBM RTC).
DoD 8570 approved security certification (i.e., Security +, CISSP, etc.) (Will be required 90 days after hire)
The ability to communicate effectively with both Product Owners and Software Developers.
Knowledge of Agile Development methodologies.
Ability to identify efficiencies and process improvements between the development and testing disciplines.
Experience in Agile development methodologies.
Experience with a version control system (e.g., Git, SVN).
Proficiency with MS Office Products (i.e., Word, Excel, Visio, & PowerPoint).
Understanding of Systems Engineering processes
