Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Human Resources Assistant to join our team. This role is pivotal in facilitating HR processes across our organization, including onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, and administrative support.

Responsibilities
  • Onboarding & Orientation: Coordinate new hire onboarding, prepare offer letters, process background checks, and schedule orientations.

  • Record Management: Complete I-9 verification, maintain personnel files, and ensure data accuracy for new hires in HRIS systems.

  • Employee Support: Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR processes, benefits, and general questions.

  • Benefits Administration: Assist with health and welfare plan enrollments, changes, and terminations. Process payroll and insurance documents and reconcile benefits statements.

  • Leave Management: Manage FMLA and other leaves of absence in compliance with federal and state guidelines.

  • Collaboration: Coordinate with payroll on pay exceptions and ensure smooth communication between HR and other departments.

  • Compliance & Auditing: Support audits for payroll, benefits, and other HR programs, recommending corrective actions as needed.

  • Recruitment Support: Track candidates in HRIS, schedule interviews, and send follow-up communications during recruitment.

Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

  • A minimum of 1 year of Human Resources experience within the state of California is required.

  • 1 year of working in the Non-profit sector.

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Preferred:

  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now.

  • Knowledge of applicant tracking systems (ATS).
