Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, design, and build new equipment to target the high-sensitivity requirements for an ion-trap based quantum computer.
- Communicate results both internally and externally through documentation, publications, and presentations.
- Work in a research lab environment to collect and analyze data on system and device performance.
YOU MUST HAVE:
- Bachelor's degree minimum
- Minimum 5 years experience (degree inclusive) with trapped ions, neutral atom cooling & trapping, and/or atom-based quantum computers
- Minimum 5 years experience (degree inclusive) involving one or more of the following areas: experimental atomic physics, experimental optics & lasers, precision experimental control systems
- Minimum 2 years experience (degree inclusive) building complex atomic physics systems
- Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.
- Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. person (defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status)
WE VALUE:
- Masters or PhD in physics or engineering
- Experience with design or operation of a device for quantum information processing
- Experience with laser cooling and trapping of ions or neutral atoms
- Experience with design and implementation of complex optical apparatuses
- Experience performing simulation and modeling to inform experiments and/or data analysis
- Experience programming experimental control systems for data collection, signal processing, and data analysis
- Experience with software version control and data archiving
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including documentation for colleagues and collaborators
- Strong collaboration skills
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
