Overview

As a Transportation Planning Student Intern, you will support a variety of project tasks including data analysis, community outreach, GIS analysis, map production, and preparation of written reports. You will receive clear instructions and technical guidance on project objectives, methodologies, and potential solutions. This role reports directly to the Senior Transportation Planner.

 

This position is part of our 9week Consor Forward Internship Program. As a member of the intern cohort, you'll participate in weekly professional development workshops and career-focused assignments while gaining handson experience across real civil engineering projects involving water and transportation infrastructure. The program is designed to help you explore your career interests, grow your skills, build connections with other interns and leaders across the firm, and have fun along the way.

 

Pay Range: $20–$25/hour
Hours: 15–20 hours per week to start, increasing to full-time during the summer.



Responsibilities

  • Support the Consor Denver transportation planning team on projects such as safety studies, corridor plans, and active transportation plans.
  • Conduct geospatial analysis and develop map-based visualizations.
  • Create and revise maps, charts, graphics, exhibits, and diagrams.
  • Prepare exhibits and materials for community outreach events.
  • Attend, support, and help facilitate community engagement events.
  • Develop community surveys and synthesize survey results.
  • Use Microsoft Office Suite to analyze data, prepare presentations, and contribute to written reports.
  • Perform additional duties as needed, including compiling and digitizing meeting notes.


Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited university pursuing a bachelor’s degree in urban or regional planning or a related field.
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS, Adobe Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite.

 

This hybrid job operates between an office environment and a field environment and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones and copy machines. May require occasional exposure to work environments that may include inclement weather, heat, humidity, noise, hazard, atmospheric conditions, and bodies of water, depending on project requirements.

While performing the duties of this job, physical demands of the employee include frequent sitting, moving, standing, talking, hearing, and occasional balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling. This job may occasionally require operating a company vehicle, and lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 35 lbs.
