Primary Job Functions:
Summary: The Supply Chain Buyer is responsible for maintaining the appropriate customer service levels (fill rates), the efficient use of the Company’s inventory assets (turns), and communications with the S.P. Richards Branches and / or vendors for which responsibility is assigned.Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Others may be assigned)- Creating purchase orders to facilitate the timely replenishment of the Distribution CentersCommunicating with both assigned vendors and/or SPR branches to ensure smooth flow of information and goodsMaintaining agreed upon service levels (fill rates) to our customersMeeting or exceeding inventory turn goals.Monitoring vendor performance (fill rate and on-time delivery) and taking corrective action where necessary.Coordinating returns to the vendors for damaged and discontinued merchandise.Monitoring inventory at all assigned locations and recommends transfers as appropriate to eliminate “overstock”.Reviewing missed demand and adjusting inventory to capture future salesOther duties as assigned.
- Strong computer skills: must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and must be able to run SQL queriesAnalytical mindset: must be able to gather, analyze, and drive insights from dataGood communication skills.Well organized and detail oriented.Experience with Manhattan’s suite of Inventory Replenishment software a plus.CPIM certification from the American Production and Inventory Control Society or equivalent a plus.
Undergraduate degree preferred. 2-3 years of Purchasing (Inventory Management) experience
Computer Skills: must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and must be able to run SQL queries Language Skills:Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to document business processes and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Mathematical Skills:Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Organizational Skills:Must be detail oriented and exceptional in organization techniques. Must be self-motivated, with ability to set and achieve goals, and set priorities of multiple tasks in order to meet deadlines. Reasoning Ability:Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and make sound business process decisions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
