Illinois Residency Requirement: Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.

What You Will Do
- Oversee and administer outside and institutional scholarships, including Meridian, Provost, outside scholarship checks, Cougar Pride, and Haley awards.
- Supervise staff and operations associated with outside and institutional scholarships, including manual awarding during high-volume periods, term-by-term eligibility reviews, student notifications for probation or termination, processing reinstatements for approved appeals, and maintaining accurate scholarship records.
- Collaborate with the Foundation to oversee scholarship award management, including supervising staff assigned to Foundation scholarship awarding and ensuring awards are utilized and distributed accurately.
- Ensure compliance with donor intent and all federal, state, and institutional regulations, while maintaining effective communication among students, departments, and the Foundation to support timely awarding.
- Identify opportunities for process and policy improvement, work with leadership to enhance program efficiency and effectiveness, and train staff on policy implementation and compliance.
- Regularly review and update scholarship policies to ensure alignment with federal, state, and institutional regulations and best practices.
- Participate in regular audits, engage in ongoing professional development, and stay current on financial aid regulations, statutes, and emerging requirement

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, communications, humanities, social sciences, or a closely related field to the position.
- One (1) year (12 months) of professional experience working in student services, financial aid/loans or a closely related field within higher education or a related agency.
- Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position, may be required.
NOTE: Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year (12 months) of work experience.
Preferred skills:
Knowledge of all federal, state, institutional, and private financial aid regulations as they apply to packaging and disbursement of financial aid, disbursement of refunds, and Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
Knowledge of accounting procedures, and fiscal controls and management principles, practices, and methods.
Skill in time management, organizing work assignments, and responding quickly and effectively to challenges.
Skill in customer service, and oral and written communication.
Ability to resolve difficult situations, to conceptualize, organize, analyze, and interpret data, complex rules, and regulations.
Ability to work in an environment that can be fast-paced and stressful.
