Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
AND
-Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Education, Child Development, or related field.
-2+ years of progressively responsible administrative or program coordination experience.
-Experience managing data and billing systems (e.g., Brightwheel, ProCare, Banner).
-Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse families, staff, and institutional partners.
Preferred Qualifications
-Strong knowledge of administrative operations in early childhood or educational settings.
-Proficiency with Brightwheel, Banner, and related university financial and record systems.
-Ability to interpret and apply compliance regulations (licensing, IDHS, grant/funding assistance).
-Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
-Commitment to creating a child- and family-friendly environment that is responsive, inclusive, and professional.
-Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

Illinois Residency Requirement: Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.

What You Will Do
- The Program Assistant ensures the smooth, compliant, and family-centered operation of the Early Childhood Center (ECC) by managing core administrative, fiscal, and system functions.
- This position oversees billing and accounts, maintains compliance with licensing and funding requirements, coordinates the use of university systems such as Banner and Bursar, and ensures accurate data management across the childcare management software (Brightwheel) and related platforms.
- Serving as a welcoming and professional first point of contact, the Program Assistant supports children, families, staff, and campus partners in a warm, inclusive, and family-friendly environment that reflects SIUE's commitment to student-parent success and high-quality early childhood education.
