This role is responsible for onsite and reporting support on various roadway technology projects. Responsibilities include documentation, field inspection, electrical and network troubleshooting, installation and equipment commissioning, and project reports. The Senior Engineering Technician will be required to travel to various project site(s) throughout Illinois.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor onsite activities for projects across multiple disciplines and companies
  • Act as inspector on job sites following contract guidelines and project specifications
  • Includes role as a hands-on Field Technician
  • Review a variety of engineering data to determine requirements to meet engineering objectives; may calculate design data; prepare layouts, detailed specifications, procedures, etc.
  •  Initiate action as needed to ensure projects follow contract and compliance obligations
  • Conduct standardized tests for multiple projects and report out on results to project teams
  • Gather and maintain data including testing results and drawings
  • Schedule and attend job meetings
  • Assemble and distribute meeting minutes
  • Provide support to the Project Team to help ensure that project deliverables are on time, within budget and at the required level of quality
  • Perform other duties as required/directed


Requirements:
  • An Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience, Engineering degree is a plus
  • 10-20 years of experience, preferably in engineering, project or construction management; transportation and construction industries preferred
  • ITS knowledge and GIS experience is a plus
  • Previous Field inspection and Building construction experience is a plus
  • Construction Management and MEP/design experience is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal, administrative, and organizational skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in a team environment
  • Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work autonomously, balance multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Experience using MS Office suite, Microstation or AutoCAD and industry related project management software
