Position Overview:
The Aerospace Business Development Manager is responsible for leading Composites One’s aerospace business development efforts within an assigned geography. This role drives strategic growth by identifying, developing, and executing new business opportunities across aerospace sub-markets and geographies. The position focuses on building strong relationships with OEMs, customers, and suppliers while advancing Composites One’s leadership position in advanced composite solutions for the aerospace market.
Key Responsibilities:
Aerospace Business Development & Strategy
- Lead aerospace business development initiatives from initial engagement through first revenue across North America.
- Ensure current-year returns from previously launched business development initiatives.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive aerospace business development plan aligned with company strategy.
- Identify and evaluate new aerospace sub-markets, geographies, and product opportunities.
- Research market conditions, trends, opportunities, and threats through engagement with customers, suppliers, OEMs, and the Sales team.
- Evaluate competitive landscapes and recommend appropriate tactics to strengthen market position.
Strategic Collaboration & Stakeholder Communication
- Collaborate with the Director of Aerospace, Advanced Composites Market Managers, Chief Applications Engineer, and Sales Management to define and execute strategic growth paths.
- Clearly articulate the opportunity, resource requirements, timelines, and risks associated with each business development initiative.
- Communicate progress to key stakeholders using standardized reporting and agreed-upon cadences.
- Advise leadership on key actions required to strengthen Composites One’s brand leadership in the aerospace market.
OEM & Customer Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers to understand evolving needs and expectations.
- Develop and execute a robust OEM strategy that positions Composites One’s solutions and value proposition effectively.
- Leverage internal and external assets to amplify Composites One’s leadership across all composite applications.
- Identify supplier and product requirements necessary to meet aerospace specifications and customer demands.
Organizational & Operational Support
- Support the Director of Aerospace, functional leaders, and Senior Management in the development and execution of short- and long-term strategic initiatives.
- Assist in shaping operational and organizational strategy aligned with aerospace and advanced composites objectives.
- Ensure alignment between operational, sales, and corporate priorities through regular interaction with department leaders.
Leadership and Communication
- Assist in guiding and supporting the Aerospace team in achieving established goals and objectives.
- Encourage strong cross-functional collaboration by identifying teamwork opportunities and leading initiatives to successful outcomes.
- Provide vision and leadership that motivates others to achieve company goals, values, and long-term strategic objectives.
- Build trust and maintain effective working relationships at multiple levels internally and externally, including customers, suppliers, and OEMs.
Expected Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the aerospace industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in Composites Engineering or a related field.
- Proven track record of success in business development or related commercial roles.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence at multiple organizational levels.
- Broad knowledge of composite materials, including resin systems, prepregs, tooling products, fiber reinforcements, and advanced bonding technologies.
- Experience with composite processing methods such as automated fiber placement (AFP), automated tape laying (ATL), autoclave, and out-of-autoclave processing.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities with the ability to evaluate data and identify trends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel); ability to learn internal systems such as MXP and SAP.
- Ability to leverage diverse sales tools, tactics, and techniques to achieve business objectives.
- Strong capability to learn and understand supplier products, processes, and strategies to best support customer solutions.
Travel:
- Ability to travel up to 80%, both domestically and internationally.
Pre-Employment Requirement:
Employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of a drug screen and background check. This requirement is especially critical for safety-sensitive roles.
The annual base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $180,000. The actual pay will be determined based on factors such as location, experience, skills, and qualifications. In addition to the base salary, employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package.
