Position Summary:
The Production Manager will be responsible for ensuring efficient production processes, maintaining high-quality standards, and meeting production targets while fostering a safe and collaborative work environment.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Production Control Management:
- Coordinate with various departments (e.g., procurement, engineering, quality assurance) to ensure production requirements are met.
- Track and analyze production data, including output, quality, and downtime, to make informed decisions.
- Oversee inventory management, ensuring adequate stock levels and timely procurement of materials.
- Implement and maintain production control systems and software.
- Manage and develop production control staff, providing training and performance evaluations.
Production Planning and Scheduling:
- Plan, organize, and manage production schedules to ensure timely delivery of products.
- Coordinate with various departments (e.g., procurement, engineering, quality assurance) to ensure production requirements are met.
- Monitor production processes and workflows to identify areas for improvement and implement efficiency-enhancing measures.
Team Management:
- Supervise, train, and motivate a team of skilled fabricators, welders, and machine operators.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Quality Control:
- Ensure all products meet the company's quality standards.
- Address and resolve any quality issues promptly.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve production processes, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles and best practices.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and projects.
Inventory and Resource Management:
- Manage inventory levels of raw materials, supplies, and finished products.
- Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely ordering of materials.
- Optimize the use of resources to minimize costs and maximize productivity.
Budgeting and Reporting:
- Develop and manage the production budget.
- Prepare regular reports on production metrics, efficiency, and costs.
- Present performance data and improvement plans to senior management.
Skills and Abilities
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous in maintaining safety standards and managing production schedules.
- Problem-Solving: Adept at identifying issues and implementing effective solutions.
- Leadership: Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive cultural change.
- Communication: Clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Organizational: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with EHS management systems and Tekla PowerFab production control software.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Industrial Management, or related field preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a production management role within a fabrication or manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of metal fabrication processes, machinery, and equipment.
- Strong understanding of production processes, lean manufacturing principles, and inventory management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze data and use critical thinking to drive process improvements.
- Proficiency in production control software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Demands
- Travel will be required to attend training and meetings.
- Ability to sit or stand for entire shift
- Occasionally requited to stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb.
- Ability to lift, on a frequent basis, at least 50 pounds.
- Ability to speak, write, and understand English clearly.
