RESOURCE REGISTERED NURSE- CRITICAL CARE (FULL-TIME)Johnson Memorial Hospital
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Obtains and records initial assessment and establishes priorities according to patient age, symptoms and psychological needs.
Re-assesses patients systematically to identify progress and trends that require intervention. Implements and documents timely interventions appropriate to patient needs.
Develops and implements a measurable individualized plan of care for the patient within time frame established by Nursing Standards of Care. Makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on interpretation of facts and evaluation of patient outcome; modifies plan of care based on evaluations.
Administer medications and performs nursing tasks (IV starts, Foley catheter insertions, assists with bedside procedures, etc.) upon demonstration of competency.
Participates in patient/significant other health education and discharge planning.
Utilizes appropriate chain of command for resolution of difficult issues.
Participates in orientation of new staff in the Resource RN job role.
Maintains neat, organized and safe environment for patients and staff in collaboration with ancillary services.
Functions as resource to visitors, physicians and staff; greets them promptly and courteously. Keeps patients and families updated on progress of care while in department. Complies with behavioral standards of JMH. Treats all patients/families with respect and practices excellent customer service behaviors.
Participates in scope department’s PI plans to improve organizational performance and achieve unit and organizational goals.
Answers telephone calls when unit secretary unavailable or busy and relays messages or transfers call to appropriate staff member.
Promotes open communication and continuity of care between floors, shifts, physicians and departments through verbal reports, charting, patient care plans and assisting with transfers.
Completes order entry in computer per protocols.
Maintains confidentiality of patient related issues. Supports the Patient Bill of Rights and Hospital Mission and Values. Communicates with patient, significant others, and health professionals regarding care to patient and serves as clinical resource person and participates in assessing patient/family status to plan patient’s care. Assures patient and significant others participation in plan of care.
Attends and participates in unit related inservices, conferences and meetings.
Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and Johnson Memorial Health policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.
Responds to cardiac/respiratory emergencies as per standards of assigned work area.
Responsible for interpreting cardiac rhythms along with patient assessment and intervening with emergency protocols when needed.
Performs additional duties as requested by Charge Nurse or Department Director.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Current licensed as a Registered Nurse in State of Indiana. BSN preferred. At least one year of Critical care, PACU, or Emergency nursing experience is preferred. Requires current BLS or CPR for Healthcare Providers, and ACLS or ALS or must be obtained within six months of hire. Must complete PALS within a year of hire.

SCHEDULE:
3 shifts/week, 6:00 p.m.-6:30 a.m., every third weekend
72 hours per bi-weekly pay period
