Description:
MidAmerican Energy Company is seeking a student pursuing a bachelor's degree in business, real estate, finance, or engineering graduating later than August 2026. Project Development, Real Estate interns will be exposed to a variety of projects and activities that occur within the energy industry. Interns will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills learned through college and apply them to the workplace. The position is temporary, nonexempt, and full-time/hourly through the summer.

The Project Development, Real Estate Internship is providing an opportunity to develop college students that are currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in business, real estate, finance or engineering or a similar field. Interns will be exposed to a variety of activities associated with the evaluation, development and construction for projects including but not limited to new generation additions and updates, energy storage, wind and solar farms, communications, facilities, asset acquisitions, and other projects as assigned. Interns will have the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills learned in college and demonstrate abilities in the workplace. The position is temporary, nonexempt, and full-time/hourly through the summer.

Responsibilities:
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support the right of way agents, project engineers, project developers, analysts, and directors for the research, planning, evaluation, budgeting, land acquisition, design and construction of new projects.
  • Supports the review of right of way documents, permits and title information.
  • Supports land and easement acquisition efforts for various MidAmerican projects.
  • Supports the updating of company real estate records and databases.
  • Supports the due diligence process for project acquisition and/or development, and construction by properly identifying the risks and benefits of potential projects, including identifying the resource, environmental, real estate, permitting and construction risks and costs.
  • Prepares and maintains department reports, presentations, project schedules and plans.
  • Data analysis and entry.
  • Support community outreach and mailings.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

  • Software skills needed to be used in extracting information from various sources, conducting analysis, building reports and assisting workforce to achieve goals.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. Experience in Microsoft, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.

Qualifications
  • Must be a college student, sophomore or higher standing, currently enrolled in a bachelor's program in business, real estate, finance or engineering.
  • Must be able to work fulltime hours May-August 2026.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and good driving record. Some travel may be required.
