Facility Services, Inc. (FSI) is seeking a certified HVAC Mechanic to support operations at Fort Riley, Kansas. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing complex HVAC systems in a hospital and critical-care environment where system reliability directly impacts patient care.

What You'll Be Working On

This position supports full maintenance and repair of all HVAC components, including air-side, wet-side, electronic, and pneumatic systems. You will work with:

  • Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems (N2 & BACnet)

  • Air handlers, chillers, cooling towers, boilers

  • HVAC water treatment systems

  • Control valves, steam traps, pumps, isolation valves

  • Sensors, switches, thermostats, humidistats

  • Ductwork, dampers, insulation, registers/diffusers

  • Motor control centers and disconnects

  • Exhaust fans and environmental control systems

You will ensure required temperature, humidity, pressure balances, and air exchanges are maintained — especially in critical areas such as:

  • Surgical Suites

  • Central Sterile

  • PACU & Pre-Op

  • Emergency Department

  • Inpatient Rooms

  • Specialty Clinics

All work must comply with manufacturer guidelines, industry standards, and applicable local, state, federal, and international codes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems

  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications

  • Service and maintain DDC systems (N2 & BACnet)

  • Test systems for pressure, vacuum integrity, and refrigerant leaks

  • Repair electrical components (breakers, thermostats, wiring, fuses)

  • Perform preventative maintenance per regulatory standards

  • Maintain refrigerant logs and documentation

  • Monitor and maintain chemical treatment levels

  • Follow all safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)

  • Maintain clean and safe work areas

  • Perform additional duties as assigned

✅ Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of HVAC trade experience

  • EPA 608 Universal Certification (Required)

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Valid driver's license with insurable record

  • Ability to pass drug screening, background check, and obtain NACI clearance

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English

  • All required state, federal, and contract-specific licenses

Must Hold ONE of the Following Certifications:

  • North American Technician Excellence (NATE)

  • ESCO Institute HVAC Excellence (Professional Level)

  • International Code Council (ICC) Certification

  • Documented Journeyman Status (State or National Apprenticeship)

  • DD214-documented Level V (or higher) military HVAC training

Personnel performing major repairs must possess a State HVAC Contractor's License.

Preferred:

  • 2–3 years of experience in healthcare or critical-care facilities
