Description

The Maintenance Tech I position supports the Facilities Department by working alongside experienced maintenance technicians to perform basic maintenance tasks and assist with facility asset management. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals seeking hands-on experience in healthcare facility operations, maintenance processes, and equipment inventory systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist maintenance technicians with routine and preventive maintenance tasks
  • Perform light maintenance duties, including basic repairs, adjustments, and inspections
  • Support inventorying and tracking of facility equipment, systems, and room locations
  • Help document asset information and update maintenance records as needed
  • Respond to maintenance service requests under supervision
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
  • Follow all safety regulations, infection control standards, and facility policies
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned by Facilities leadership

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Interest in facilities maintenance, building systems, or skilled trades
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and record keeping
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in maintenance, facilities, or a healthcare environment
  • Familiarity with basic tools and equipment
  • Coursework or training in building maintenance, HVAC, electrical, or plumbing

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to work in mechanical rooms and patient care environments
  • Manual dexterity to use hand and power tools safely
