Commonwealth Rolled Products is a leading manufacturer of Aluminum rolled products for the Automotive, Commercial, and Industrial markets. The Company operates its production facility in Lewisport, KY with the support of an Automotive Innovation Center for R&D, Sales and Field Service in Madison Heights (DET), and Inside Sales in the Cleveland, OH area.
Our Company is seeking to add a talented Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Business Partner to its team. The purpose of this role is to act as a strategic partner to bridge the gap between health, safety and environmental compliance and operational goals. The individual will work closely with business leaders to embed a proactive safety culture, manage risks, and ensure regulatory compliance, ultimately helping to improve performance and protect employees.
Responsibilities Include:
- Actively participate in maintaining a zero-incident safety culture.
- Live and champion the Commonwealth Rolled Products core values: Safety, Integrity, Customer Focus, Ownership, Excellence, and Teamwork.
- Provide HSE advice, guidance and technical expertise to the facility leadership team.
- Ensure the health and safety of all employees, visitors and contractors through adherence to HS&E standards, policies and procedures.
- Partner with plant Business Leaders to implement proactive solutions to avoid workplace injury and environmental upset conditions and solve problems as they arise.
- Interact with and provide visible leadership to all employees, particularly those on the plant floor to drive health, safety and environmental awareness, engagement and improvement.
- Improve HSE performance by continuously increasing awareness and improving safety systems to eliminate accidents and injuries.
- Complete inspections and audits to detect and eliminate unsafe practices and potential environmental noncompliance conditions.
- Assess equipment and processes for adequate mechanical and physical safeguards, recommend improvements where needed.
- Follow investigation practices and procedures for all HSE incidents and near misses to determine the root causes and corrective actions necessary to prevent recurrences. Meet reporting targets by timely completion of investigations and root cause analyses.
- Collect and analyze injury data to identify trends and recommends improvements.
- Conduct effective workplace safety observations and drive effectiveness of other’s observations.
- Support emergency response action programs.
- Support compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
- Implement and deliver education and training programs for effective health, safety and environmental practices. This includes but is not limited to 70E, Mobile Equipment, Aerial Lift, Mobile Crane, Confined Space, LOTO, Fall Protection, Incident Investigation, new hire orientation safety training.
- Conduct annual reviews of HSE policies and procedures, identifying potential gaps and making revisions if necessary.
- Review Industrial Hygiene Matrix, determine what needs to be tested, schedule the testing and develop an agenda to communicate testing plans.
- Provide direct HSE support to the Casting Department.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in industrial safety, health or environmental role.
- Strong communication skills, leadership skills and the ability to work with and motivate employees on all levels of the organization.
- Effective project management and planning skills.
- Willingness to be on call after regular work hours if issues arise.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified safety professional designation.
- Experience in the aluminum industry and in a unionized work environment preferred.
