Job Summary
The University Press of Kentucky publishes 50-60 academic and trade books annually. The successful applicant will assist the press’s Editorial staff in a variety of different ways.
Key Responsibilities:
Coding and formatting book manuscripts
  • Preparing manuscripts for typesetting
  • Checking page proofs
  • Editing indexes
  • Proofreading marketing copy
  • Updating records in a database
  • Applying for Cataloging-in-Publication data
  • Managing reprint editions
  • Other tasks as needed
Candidates should be detail-oriented and comfortable in a deadline-driven environment. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word is required.
Preference will be given to candidates with working knowledge of The Chicago Manual of Style and/or prior experience in publishing.

IEBC (Internal Employee Being Considered).
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Microsoft Excel required. Filemaker Pro and working knowledge of Adobe InDesign preferred.
