| Physical Requirements | *Must be able to work from ladders or lifts up to 15 feet or higher, *Must be able to reach overhead and use hand tools *Must be able to lift and carry 30 pounds *Must be able to work in confined spaces for extended periods of time *Must be able to distinguish wiring colors *Must be able to push/pull cables *Must be able to traverse campus while carrying or moving equipment in a reasonable amount of time. *Must be able to stand for long periods of time *Ability to work in a sedentary position utilizing computer, mouse, keyboard, and phone for portions of the day. *Strong interpersonal skills required *Self-motivation a plus *Must have excellent customer service skills |
| Shift | Monday-Friday (40 hrs/wk) Generally 7:30am-4:30pm; Occasional overtime as needed; Required to be in the on-call rotation, weeks vary depending on staffing. |
| Job Summary | The ITS Electronic Tech Assistant will be responsible for installing network cabling, installing and activating network equipment, and installation of both minor & major network cabling projects, as well as building and equipping communication closets. In addition, this position is responsible for testing and monitoring fiber/copper circuits for functionality including analyzing, diagnosing, coordinating, and repairing networking/data issues. Mastering all test tools at our disposal to diagnose & troubleshoot, as well as coordinating repair with all affected parties. |
| Skills / Knowledge / Abilities | Communications skills; including on-line communications methods, basic cable installation, termination, and testing skills. |

| Preferred Education/Experience | AA and/or BICSI Apprentice Level Certification, previous related certification, or BICSI Apprentice Level Certification Preferred. A KY Driver’s License is required. |
