| Job Summary | The Patient Access Representative is responsible for patient registration; resolution of patient complaints; collection and verification of demographic information and insurance/payer source information; correction of registration errors; collection of patient-responsibility payments at time of service (copays, co-insurance, self-pay estimates) as well as maintaining compliance with HIPPA and all UKHC policies regarding patient privacy and confidentiality. This position will also participate in unit and Enterprise activities to improve efficiency, quality, safety, and patient satisfaction. |
| Skills / Knowledge / Abilities | The ideal candidate will be customer service oriented; possess patient registration and health insurance knowledge; have the ability to multi-task with a strong emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail; proficient in Microsoft Office, to include Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel; excellent communication skills (both written and verbal); solid time management, critical thinking, follow-through, and planning and organizational skills are all critical to the success in this position and a high level of respect for confidentiality is a must. |

| Preferred Education/Experience | Associate degree and at least four years of customer service experience preferred; previous experience working with patient registration highly preferred. |
