The mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles and machinery, including tasks like engine overhauls, brake repairs, and routine maintenance like oil changes and tire rotations.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnosis and Repair:
- Identify and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic problems using diagnostic tools and procedures.
- Repair or replace faulty parts, including engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and other components.
- Perform routine maintenance, such as oil changes, filter replacements, tire rotations, and fluid level checks.
- Maintenance
- Perform scheduled maintenance services according to manufacturer recommendations.
- Inspect and maintain vehicle systems to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Customer Interaction:
- Explain technical issues and repair recommendations to customers in a clear and understandable manner.
- Provide estimates for repairs and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and parts used.
- Safety:
- Follow all safety procedures and regulations when working with vehicles and tools.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and suspension.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Other Skills:
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Formal training or apprenticeship in automotive technology.
- Relevant experience as a mechanic.
