Description
The Battle Captain’s Trainer position shall provide training support for DISA Battle Captains and members of the Watch located within the SCIF. The trainer will be centrally managed by DISA J-7 but will be assigned to work within the SCIF area within the command centered on their individual skill set or knowledge base. This position will train members of the Watch to provide critical Communications and Information Technology Services and support staff elements and organizations within the DISA Watch
The trainer will provide support to the Battle Captains in their mission to keep threats and vulnerabilities as low as possible by ensuring their computer network is stable, undisrupted and secure. This training position should be able to communicate at the highest command levels internal and external to the command, taking guidance from J-7 Division Chief, J-772 DISA Chief Training Branch, and Joint Director (JDIR) leadership. The SMEs should be able to perform at a level of support for the various functions they perform. The Battle Captain’s Trainer is the training expert for members of the Watch and must be able to work independently with minimum or no guidance.
Primary Responsibilities
The Battle Captain Trainer shall:
Support all aspects of Watch training capabilities, tasks, and options, from required development to transition into operations.
Establish a community of interest between cyber-Watch security trainers and both industry and government requirements.
Analyze the training curriculum, performance objectives, training plans, certification standards, exercise objectives, and evaluation standards to project future performance objectives and assist with the development of training materials to support Watch Training objectives that will ensure Watch Officers possess the necessary skills required to accomplish the mission.
Support the development of the new innovations scope and objectives, high level requirements development, and conduct training requirements and achievement of CERT completion and recommended technology acquisition planning support to enable next generation technology investments.
Elicit inputs for the planning process from cyberspace operations elements (to include assessments) throughout the program community to assure inputs are representative of the community’s full scope.
Support the continuous performance improvement and standardization efforts based on future capability needs, alternate approaches, flexible applications, and adversary modifications.
Maintain maintenance of training databases to ensure accuracy and timelines of records.
Assist in the tracking and reporting of Agency-level training requirements for the Watch workforce.
Basic Qualifications
Active TS/SCI security clearance.
Current CSSP certification
Organized, deliberate, and able to work alone or in a team
Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and working with large data sets.
Knowledge of joint doctrine, joint plans, policies, and practices supporting the full spectrum of military operations
Good oral and written communication skills
Bachelor's degree in relevant technical discipline and 12 years of overall related experience or Master’s with 10 years of prior relevant experience. 4+ years of additional related years of experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
