Leidos is seeking an Engineering and Process Improvement Manager to lead, optimize, and scale energy-efficiency initiatives across commercial and industrial sectors in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. This role blends technical engineering expertise, process optimization, and AI-driven innovation to enhance program delivery, customer outcomes, and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate will drive continuous improvement strategies, leverage data analytics and artificial intelligence, and lead cross-functional teams to modernize how energy efficiency solutions are identified, evaluated, and implemented.
Primary Responsibilities:
Engineering & Technical Leadership
- Lead the identification, evaluation, and implementation of energy efficiency solutions across commercial and industrial systems, including lighting, HVAC, and industrial processes
- Oversee and validate energy savings calculations, ensuring accuracy, scalability, and compliance with utility program requirements
- Provide expert technical guidance to clients on the design, procurement, and installation of energy-efficient systems
- Maintain deep knowledge of building systems, industrial systems, and emerging energy technologies
- Design and implement process improvement frameworks to enhance efficiency, quality, and consistency in program delivery
- Standardize workflows for energy assessments, project tracking, reporting, and customer engagement
- Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies, and deploy solutions
- Establish KPIs and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement
- Lead the integration of AI and advanced analytics into energy efficiency workflows, including:
- Automated energy savings calculations and modeling
- Predictive analytics for identifying efficiency opportunities
- AI-assisted audit tools and digital assessments
- Intelligent customer segmentation and outreach optimization
- Evaluate and implement AI-enabled tools and platforms to improve decision-making, reduce manual effort, and enhance accuracy
- Partner with internal teams to develop data pipelines, dashboards, and digital solutions for real-time insights
- Promote a culture of innovation by identifying opportunities to apply machine learning, automation, and generative AI to program operations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with large commercial and industrial clients
- Present technical solutions and process improvements to stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner
- Advise clients on strategies for continuous demand reduction and long-term energy optimization
- Support business development efforts by identifying new opportunities and enhancing program value propositions
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, analysts, and program staff
- Foster collaboration across engineering, operations, data science, and client-facing teams
- Communicate complex technical and process-related concepts effectively across diverse audiences
Basic Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience delivering customized energy solutions and performing energy analysis in commercial and industrial environments
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, or related); Master’s degree in business preferred
- Strong analytical and statistical skills, including advanced proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools
- Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technologies, including AI and digital tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to perform field verification of pre- and post-installation energy measures
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in business or related field
- Experience in Commercial & Industrial energy assessments and audits
- Background in industrial energy efficiency program
- Experience with:
- Data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
- Programming or scripting (Python, R) for analytics or automation
- AI/ML applications in engineering, operations, or energy systems
